Seleucid War Mask

The Seleucid Empire was one of Alexander The Great’s territorial remnants. At it’s peak it was huge and it encompassed Egypt, half of Anatolia, Persia, Afghanistan and went as far as to neighboring India. In terms of culture it was a Hellenistic oasis in a desert of eastern tribesmen. This piece is an imaginary war mask that Seleucid cavalry might had worn. The Parthian horsemen used masks and they were sharing borders with the Seleucs to the North, so why not…
